I admit; I read too much Dear Abby and Emily Post. This is both a good and bad thing. Bad thing? I think Abby is wrong half the time, but that may be the age difference. The good thing? I learn a new set of rules of etiquette every once and while that seems to be fair to all parties involved in a tough situation. This current obsession of mine got me to thinking, “What do brides need to know?” Whether it is the way you should word your invitation, ceremony planning options, or the basics of getting to know your gorgeous engagement ring. There seems to be something new to be learned. That’s why we’re starting our new series Etiquette with Emily! We’ll be covering many of the subjects covered in Emily Post’s Wedding Etiquette by Anna and Lizzie Post. I do encourage you to definitely reach out to us in regards to what we’ll be sharing with you and other topics we could possibly cover!
Now that you've been selected as a bridesmaid, the ideas and thoughts swirl around what the next few months will bring as far as planning and wedding festivities. Here are a few tips on how to be fantastic bridesmaid all while keeping yourself and the bride stress free!
The bridal party and groomsmen are not only the foundation of your mental and emotional stability during the wedding planning process, but are critical in the success of your wedding in general. That's a lot of stress to place on your closest friends and/or family! They deserve some great, heartfelt gifts for all their hard work.
Sure, having wedding planners and wedding decorators do all the work takes a lot of stress off you as a bride, but weddings need some personal touches here and there! It is YOUR day after all, not theirs! Make this adorable sign and greet your guests with your personal creative sparkle.
Here we are heading into fall! Weather is definitely cooler, mums are out, pumpkin spice lattes have arrived at Starbucks and fall décor has invaded window shops….it’s my favorite time of the year! 2Bs, hope you too, are enjoying these early fall days.
My last post we talked about making your guy look sharp on his wedding day. Well, we’re also going to talk guys today. I am currently working with the sweetest bride as we plan her May wedding. She inspired today’s post since she is surprising her fiancé with a cigar bar….how cool is that?! Sometimes the groom gets forgotten with everything we everything bride focused, so what a sweet way of making your groom feel special. Now here’s the thing, even if your groom is not into cigars, you can do a Scotch bar, Whiskey Bar, Coffee Bar or anything else that he especially loves. Whatever you decide, the key is creating a bar that’s about something your fiancé loves and making it look great.
To veil or not to veil...that is the question. Alongside this debatable idea comes a multitude of others that you are bound to embark on as a planning Bride2B. If you’re a detail oriented bride, these things matter! You also have probably made it a point to hone in on various other miniscule details which drives your fiance insane, but scores you extra brownie points with his like-minded, far too involved for your liking, helicopter-mother.
Searching for a wedding location is one of the most exciting parts of the wedding planning process. Many couples consider hotels as a potential venue. Others research outdoor space. In my 15 years as a planner, some of the most popular locations I have helped clients secure for weddings are museums.
Planning ways to make sure your guests have a good time is important and all, but you've got to make sure you know the most efficient way of getting them to know about your wedding in the first place! Let us help.
I know what you're thinking: "Why should my wedding guests want to do anything other than gaze at my beauty and sob because they're overwhelmed by our love?" Valid, valid point. However, a lot of these tips work in your advantage!
Table numbers are one of the staple pieces of any wedding. Instead of doing the same thing as every wedding before yours, why not switch things up a bit?
You’ve said, “YES!” to your fiancé and now it’s time to start deciding on the perfect venue. There are so many factors to consider when choosing where you’ll host the biggest day of your life! Indoor or outdoor? Modern or vintage? Downtown, suburbs or on a farm? You’ve probably looked through hundreds of pictures and a lot of magazines trying to envision what you want your wedding to look like. Choosing the right venue is the first step in designing the wedding of your dreams! Here are some helpful tips on choosing the perfect venue(s) for your wedding & reception from a practical and photographic standpoint!
As a photographer, we’re constantly up against time constraints. Some couples choose not to see each other before the wedding (which is fine, and completely up to them) but it does pose some logistical issues and extra time constraints after the wedding that couples rarely consider during their planning process. With our brides, I suggest the 90 minute cocktail reception.
Hello 2Bs! The sun is shining and we are still in the throes of summer weddings and making our way into the fall wedding season. After the winter we had this past year, I don't care how hot it gets. The heat can make it hard to stay cool and look great on you wedding day, especially for our grooms. So today we are focusing on! Inspired by the latest issue of GQ, I thought I’d bring you some cool summer and early fall looks for your groom. Take a look!
The goal of a reception is not only to celebrate a marriage, but also to thank guests for supporting the union and being apart of the day. This leads to the second goal of a reception: to provide an atmosphere in which the wedding guests are having a great time! In order to do so, we need to understand what guests complain about at wedding receptions.
2Bs, ever wonder who the assistant to your wedding or venue coordinator is? They're running around with a clipboard, a walkie-talkie or cell, and know more about your wedding than you might. That person, right there, is a young, hardworking individual looking to learn more from the wedding industry so that they, too, can continue to produce successful occasions and events just like your big day! Today Monica Richard, MBC and Owner of Mon Amie Events, Inc. has her summer interns, Mallori and Mariah give us a glimpse into their world!
