I met Anthony Harrell at a church picnic when I was about 14 years old. For next four years, we would see each other at high school track meets and other church events. After high school graduation, 24 years would pass before we would have contact with each other again and that is when we became friends on Facebook.
Three years later, Anthony began constantly ‘Facebook poking’ me. This lasted for a month before we ran into each other at the grocery store and exchanged phone numbers. We had our first date a month later.
After a little more than two years, Anthony secretly shopped for an engagement ring with my daughter. Although we are now well into our 40’s, Anthony still asked my father for his blessing. He proposed to me Christmas Day 2014.
Our Indianapolis wedding was held August 1, 2015 at First Baptist Church North Indianapolis. We had our reception at the Latvian Community Center. In our opinion, and that of many of our almost 300 guests, the day was beautifully perfect!
My recommendations to brides planning their big day:
- Hire a good, reliable coordinator so that you can RELAX during the process.
- Remember that it is YOUR wedding - do not let anyone stress you with their opinions and desires.
- Create a budget and stick with it. Only spend what you intend to spend for each vendor. Some are definitely more expensive than others.
- Choose attendants who will support you in the decisions you make and will help make your day as special as it is intended to be.
