Frank always tells me he can recall the first day he saw me at Angie's List. I was training along side the sales consultant that sat next to him at the time. A week later I was officially on the sales floor and I could tell Frank was outgoing and of course very helpful, with me being "the new girl" and all.
After training within my first week officially selling to accounts I was getting emails from a certain someone inviting me to a co-workers party. After much convincing I went with him and a group of friends to the party where I could meet more people in the company.
I maintained that we will remain friends and I didn't want to date, but with more and more time and co-worker get-togethers I opened up and became even more attracted to him and his personality. Finally giving in and becoming exclusive many months later, he made me happier than any other person. We had already shared great memories, and our time together always seemed to go perfectly. Our spontaneous plans seemed to create the most memorable moments. At this point, I was learning we had something unique and there was real potential for a future between us.
Frank arranged a get-together with my family to go "out to dinner" for my "birthday". That night as we were getting ready, he explained my now-step-daughter had a problem . He was going to take care of it and meet me at my sister's house so he then left my place early while I was still finishing getting ready.
I made my way over to my sister's running behind as usual. I called my mom and asked if I should just pull up or come in the house since we were late for our reservation. She explained I should probably come in for a minute...
I walked into the house, my family all lined up as I walked into the living room, and as I approached them they moved to the side to show that Frank was down on one knee. Frank explained to me later that it was important that he involved my family, which is something I always pictured as well.
I was so stunned when he said "Will you marry me?" that it took me a second to get the words out... "YES" and all I could say after that point was "Oh my gosh!" out of shock. I was thrilled and surprised.
Little did I know I was going out to dinner for my birthday AND an engagement celebration.
The wedding concept was based off the idea that I wanted a fall wedding but with elegance and formality. After seeing many brides concept of a country/rustic fall wedding, I wanted to capture all the fall elements but also keep the traditional wedding elegance of such a special day. There was also something romantic about the fall, the coziness and warm colors.
I used rich fall colors; gold, burgundy, some browns, and green. One of the favorite aspects of my wedding was my flowers! They turned out to be a perfect combination of colors and traditional elements. With the orange spray roses, deep red roses, berries, and wine & gold mums, it really created a rich look. I tied together the fall-elegance concept with wedding corn hole, apples in the reception center piece, pumpkin centerpieces with flowers, caramel apple station, pumpkins scattered throughout, chalkboard prints & signs, spice cake layers in our wedding cake with apricot filling, and corn kernels as vase fillers for votives lining the tables.
One of the most special moments of the day was during the ceremony. We involved Frank's three girls from a previous marriage in our vows. It was important for me to have a declaration to these 3 little girls who I would now help in parenting forever. It was also very special to have them promise to love and honor me as their new step mother. Overall, our day was perfect and I worked with so many great vendors to pull off my ideas! We couldn't have had our dream wedding come together without all the special people and professionals involved.
