By Sophie Fleetwood

Are you stuck in a motivational slump, trying to find the excitement you need to make some major progress on wedding planning? Then check out these tips that we think will help you to be more productive! Planning your dream wedding doesn’t happen overnight, which is why it’s important to start planning months or even years before your wedding date. Don’t lose, your motivation. Pick a day to devote to planning and use these tips to help yourself get cracking!

The first thing you should do is have a productive morning. I don’t know about you but when I get organized and I start out with a productive morning, it gives me all the motivation I need to start cranking out my other tasks for the day. So, how does one have a productive morning? We’ll tell you.

Get Up Early

Yes, sometimes this is easier said than done, especially on a warm Saturday morning when all you want to do is stay in bed. But trust me, it’s worth it. Nothing makes me feel worse and more unproductive when I’ve slept half the day away. Getting up early will give you more time in the day to get things done as well as help you to feel more motivated and productive.

As soon as you can, drink a cold glass of water. You’re probably not consuming enough water as it is so having a glass of water first thing in the morning can be refreshing and help to keep you awake.

Eat Breakfast

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, and after a long night of sleep, your body is going to need the proper nutrients to kick start your day. Cozy up on the couch with a steaming bowl of oatmeal or get right to work at your desk with a granola bar and apple slices. Or blend up a delicious strawberry and banana smoothie! Whatever you do, just make sure you have something to eat. It’ll give you the energy you need to start your planning for the day.

Make a "To Do" List

There’s nothing more satisfying than checking off boxes after you complete different tasks that you plan to do during the day. I love agendas, they keep me organized and on track. Need to call the Florist tomorrow? Have you booked a cake tasting with your favorite bakery? Write it down in your agenda. It’ll help you to remember it and when you’re finished with each task you can check it off the box, which is such a great feeling! Make sure you invest in a nice agenda that you’re going to enjoy looking at each day and writing in. My favorites are the agendas from Rifle Paper Co. Nothing beats the beautiful and intricate patterns that Anna Bond creates for her agendas.

So now you’ve started your morning off right and you’re ready to be productive and start working on the planning for your wedding. Let’s get to it then!

The next thing you should do is look for a little inspiration. You have to have something that gets you excited about planning your own wedding, otherwise, you won’t have anything to motivate you, which is most definitely a problem. Of course, every bride is excited to plan her wedding with her husband, but it does take work and a lot of effort and sometimes after a long day at work, the only thing you want to do is pig out and watch Netflix, instead of getting on the phone with the venue you’ve been eyeing for months. Don’t feel bad if you feel like you’ve been lacking some motivation, it’s completely normal and nobody expects you to be in the mood to go over contracts with venues or florists all the time. Yes, it’s a joyful and exciting celebration of love, but it takes a lot of work to get there. I mean why else would women hire a wedding planner? But if you don’t hire a wedding planner, which is quite normal and a great way to save money, then you’re left figuring most of this out on your own, unfortunately. But, don’t freak out! That’s why so many blogs and websites like us are devoted to helping you plan your wedding without the cost of an actual planner.

So, before you start getting into the thick of your planning for the day, spend some time on Pinterest looking at weddings that have a similar vibe to what you’re going for. Scroll through our Wedding Wednesday’s too for added inspiration. You may find that seeing what others can create gets you excited about what you will be able to create too.

A productive morning will lead to a successful day of planning, so follow these tips to help you stay focused once it comes time to start working on your planning. You can do this! Just take it one step at a time and before you know it, your fairy tale wedding will be complete! Good luck brides!
