Easy Ways to De-Stress from Wedding Planning

By Sophie Fleetwood

Feeling a little stressed? Brides take a deep breath. It’s time to be honest with ourselves. Wedding planning can be difficult. Trying to make all of your dreams come true in one day can seem like an impossible feat. Sometimes even the smallest of details can take more time than figuring out the big picture. A Bride2B has an endless to-do list, with each box she checks off, there’s sure to be twice as many boxes unchecked. Wedding planning is fun, but it isn’t always a breeze. Every bride deals with the stress of trying to satisfy her in-laws while creating her guest list, desperately trying to find a venue available for her wedding date, looking for ways to decorate without breaking the bank, and finding a beautiful dress in her price range.  Unfortunately, the stressors don’t end there. You’ve got a bridal party to deal with, mailing out all the thank you notes from the bridal shower within a reasonable time, printing invitations, mailing them out…this doesn’t even cover half of the stuff brides have to do to get ready for the day they say, “I do”.

So if we can acknowledge that wedding planning isn’t always an easy breezy task, then maybe we should also acknowledge the fact that sometimes, brides-to-be just need a break! So, today we’re here to give you tips that will help you to destress, even on your busiest days. By taking the time to do some of these things, your mind will be able to decompress a bit. Follow these tips and think positive thoughts! It’ll all be worth it in the end!

Light Some Candles

You can never go wrong with a relaxing scent from bath and body works. Not only do their candles come in the cutest packaging but they also have special scents just for stress relief. Or if you've got some Christmas spirit, try out one of their holiday scented candles. I love their larger three-wick candles; they give off the perfect amount of lighting. It provides great ambiance and if you're feeling a stress-related headache coming on, then turning off the fluorescents and lighting your room with only the warm glow of a wax candle can really do wonders for your mind!

Try A Bubble Bath

Suds up the tub with some silky bath soaps or a bath bomb that explodes with sweet scents and shimmering bubbles. Lush sells luxurious bath bombs that start to fizzle and turn your bath water into a body of color as soon as you drop one in. You'll get out of the tub with soft skin and a relaxed mind.

Stretching

Try out some relaxing stretches in the morning before the day gets going. This will give you some time to limber up your body before any chaos ensues. It's also an opportunity to care for your body and give your muscles and joints a chance to loosen up and relax. You'll feel more composed and less scatter-brained when you do some stretches like the child's pose, heart opener, eagle arms, or the standing forward bend.

Take A Nap

Up late last night catching up on the latest wedding trends? Then cozy up with a blanket and take a nap! But don't take one for too long! A simple power nap can help you to recuperate and wake up feeling refreshed, but one that's too long can leave you feeling more exhausted.

Spa Day

Give yourself just one day to devote to YOU time. Convert your bathroom into your own spa. Soak your feet in a tub of hot water while you sip on some rosé. Don't forget to break out your manicure supplies and put on a fresh coat of polish. Unwinding with a nice pore cleansing mask can work wonders for your skin and confidence too. Stress can cause breakouts so treat your face to a renewing mask. Your skin will thank you for it! You can also try out some cleansing pore strips and make sure to moisturize afterward! Take some time to slather on some thick body lotion to give your skin a hydrated glow.

Have A Laugh

Sometimes laughter really is the best medicine. Watch some funny cat videos for an instant case of the giggles and cuteness overload, it might even make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. What’s more relaxing than that?

Sip On It

Make yourself a refreshingly fruity smoothie to kick start your energy and give your body the nutrients it needs. I love any smoothies with strawberries in it. Blend up some of these delicious recipes, add a bendy straw and sip away! You may still have wedding planning to do, but there’s no reason why you can’t please your taste buds while you do it!

Take a Steamy Shower

Haven’t had as much time recently to take a nice long shower? Hopefully, it hasn’t been more than 24 hours since the last time you slid into the shower, but regardless, take some time to get steamy and crank up the hot water in your shower for a relaxing half hour of pure bliss. Use your most luxurious shower gels, a loofa, a hair mask, and by the time you get out, you’ll be feeling clean and refreshed. If your fingers start to look like shriveled prunes after a while, you’re doing it right.
